The Mandarin
The Mandarin arrived in Auckland on the 14th November 1843. The Mandarin was built by Smith & Dimon and the tonnage was 650, and she was captained by a Mr TH Smith. It left London on the 21/06/1843.
This ship has one small claim to fame because it brought to New Zealand a small mumber of the "Parkhurst Boys" - the closest we probably got to convicts - ( they had been pardoned for minor crimes) - to this country.
Amongst the paying passengers, which totalled
22, was William Taylor - who settled in Auckland, acquired land
in the Tamaki District and called his property "Glen Innes".
If you have notes on The Auckland or any other vessels and would
